
History
Birthplace of St. Marino, a stonemason who was born in the 4th century. In search of work, he went to the other side of the Adriatic, persecuted for his Christian beliefs, settled on Mount Titan, where he built a church and gathered his like-minded followers. The city of San Marino (the state of the same name) was founded on the walls of the church.
Sights
In Lopar there are two churches: St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of the parish of Lopar, located in the very center of the town, and the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 14th century (votive church), a place of pilgrimage for the people of Rab and celebrated on September 8th.


Flora and Fauna
Due to the mild Mediterranean climate, Lopar is home to many plant and animal species such as the indigenous holm oak (Quercus Ilex), cypress (Cypressus sempervirens), myrtle (Myrtus communis), juniper (Juniperus oxycedrus), heather (Erica arborea), Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), maritime pine (Pinus maritima), black pine (Pinus nigra), shrub species – broom (Spartium junceum), wild olive (Olea europea), climbing ivy (Hedera helix), shrub asparagus (Asparagus off)…
The most widespread on the Kamanjar are immortelle and medicinal sage (Salvia off) and several endemic species – wolf’s foot (Aristolochia croatica), Croatian lovage (Leuchanthemum croaticum), Kvarner deer (Phyllitis hybrida).
The largest indigenous mammal is the rabbit, and its relative, the rabbit, also lives here, which is found in much greater numbers. Among reptiles, the most numerous are the lizard, among snakes, the common white-eared and the common white-eared, and there are no poisonous snakes on Rab. Among amphibians, there are several species of frogs, and among insects, the most numerous are butterflies of all colors and crickets, which create a special atmosphere with their music. Many species of birds also nest there. The underwater world of Lopar is very diverse, with many species of fish, shellfish and other animal species living there.

Lopar has numerous sports facilities, including water activities such as diving, windsurfing, jet skis, pedal boats, boat rentals, tennis courts, mini golf, aquagan…
Cycling will give you a special experience along paths and trails surrounded by pine trees and Mediterranean plants.
The tourist offer also includes day trips, panoramic boat rides (trips to neighboring islands and islets), sightseeing of the seabed by glass boat, and a day trip to the Plitvice National Park.

You can enjoy dishes prepared in the traditional way, fish and seafood as well as vegetables grown in the gardens of Lopar.
